PARTY SEASON IS NOT OVER YET!

I love these dresses because you can wear it to one event and you wouldn't feel too bad about repeating these outfits on another occasion.
These outfits could be worn to a party and it could even be worn to a wedding.  My favorite is the first dress shown.

Party season is not over, so why not go and get that dress and just sparkle and shine ladies.  We deserve that and much more.

HOW TO SURVIVE A BLIZZARD

The Northeast braces for a dangerous storm

In my State we are bracing for one of the biggest snow storms that we have seen in many, many, years.  The Weatherman predicted during the weekend that this storm with have a heavy impact and it will shut everything down.

The News have reported that all Transit will end at 9pm and their will be no more service until Thursday Morning.  Our Governor does not want any cars on the road and there are possibilities that there will be some power outages.

We have snow storms every year but it seems that after every year the storms are getting worst with higher levels of snow.

I am sure that some people got stranded trying to come home from work.  We cannot prevent snow storms but we can learn to prepare in advance so that, the storms do not cripple us.

Here are tips that you can use to prepare and although some of these tips are a given in the North East part of the Country; I am adding more and hopefully when another storm approaches we will be well informed and well prepared.

  1. Make sure to get some salt and shovels to keep all the entrances clear and the sidewalks clear.
  2. Buy in advance some big candles in tall jar and do not use them until you have an outage and buy a box of long, wooden matches.
  3. This tip is a given.  Go to the supermarket in advance and buy enough food for about 4 or 5 days. Make sure that you buy a lot of bread and canned food that will not spoil.
  4. Buy enough batteries so you will be able to use radio and flashlight.
  5. Go to hardware store and get a good flashlight and also go to Dollars store to buy about 4 more for a dollar each.
  6. Fill up some empty water jug with water and also buy some bottled water from supermarket.
  7. Check on Elderly and disabled tenants in your building or next door neighbors.
  8. Buy some can openers if you do not already have some.
  9. If you go to work the day of the storm; pack a small bag with extra clothes, medicines and personal cleaning items, just in case you get stuck and cannot get home.
  10. When at home, pack a small bag for each member of the family with clothing and medications, just in case you have to evacuate your home.
  11. Keep your cell phone charged all day until power goes out, just in case you have to call 911 for an emergency.
  12. Buy enough blankets in advance, just in case your heat goes out.
  13. Buy a plastic bin, just in case you have to put some food in and place outside to keep food from spoiling.
  14. If you keep your freezer closed, food will keep for a day or so.
  15. Keep money on hand, just in case you have to pay someone to shovel your side walks.
  16. Make sure to refill medications a day or two in advance, just in case you are running out of your medicines.
  17. Buy supplies for you pets in advance.
  18. Do not sleep with the oven on, to warm your home because it is unsafe.
  19. Keep your children indoors, just in case there are some fallen branches and fallen live wires.
  20. Do not try to clean off your car until it is safe to go outside and do so.

I know that these are a lot of tips, but they are meant to keep you and your family safe.

HOW TO MAKE GOOD, HEARTY BEEF STEW IN THE CROCK POT

It is really cold in my state today and it is snowy and what I like to prepare for my family is Beef Stew.  Beef Stew is really good and hearty and it is nice to make some good pot meals that are so easy to prepare and it is inexpensive to make.

Even though you can prepare this dish on top of the stove, I like to prepare this meal in my crock pot and set it to cook for 6 to 8 hours.

You can even prepare this dish while you are at work and come home to the good smells of your Beef Stew.

You can make some jiffy cornbread on the side, if you like or some good biscuits.

Ingredients:

  1. Buy a pack of beef cubes.
  2. 4 carrots cut up
  3. 1 half of Onion
  4. 1 Can of Mixed Vegetables
  5. Optional: Can of Tomato
  6. Optional: 1 half of Celery Stalk
  7. 3 potatoes
  8. Optional: Mushrooms
  9. Less than a half of teaspoon of Seasoned Salt or regular Salt.
  10. A small sprinkle of Black Pepper
  11. Less than a cup of water

Take out your Crock Pot and put all your ingredients in there and add your Salt and Pepper and Water and set your Crock Pot to cut slow for 6 to 8 hours and that is all there is to it.

Enjoy!

WE DON'T HAVE TO PAY DEPARTMENT STORE PRICES TO ACHIEVE THIS LOOK LADIES

BOHO CHIC

A nice plain look that we can achieve on a budget.

I went to two very expensive stores and I saw these looks and I looked at the price tag and I was blown away at just how high the price was.

My Daughter and I both said at the same time" They must be kidding, we can get this look at the thrift store"
The first look is a style that is very popular in New York City and I have seen it in Chelsea.
The second look is a very nice sweater and a skirt but it is very easy to achieve this whole look for under 15 dollars.

This is one of the reasons why I thrift is because you can look in magazines or go to department stores and see if you can imitate this look on a budget.

My staple in my wardrobe is black skirts and black pants because you can create some really nice looks by mixing and matching blouses or sweaters.

My Daughter likes boho chic and she has many outfits that looks like the first example and she paid no more than $10.00 for the whole entire look.  Now, that is what I call a bargain.

Real style can be achievable by just having a little imagination when shopping at thrift stores.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE GIFTS THAT I RECEIVED OVER THE HOLIDAY SEASON

                     CASWELL - MASSEY SANDALWOOD SOAP

I received this soap as one of my Christmas presents and I was so surprised.  My neighbor came and she said " I Have Something That I know You Want", She gave me my bag and I pulled out this cute little box and she said that this is the best soap that you can get and I know that you like Sandalwood.

She didn't know that I had been searching for a nice, fragrant, soap and I was seeing the same brands all the time.  I didn't even know that this soap existed.  It has a very strong smell and you only have to use a little and it makes you smell so clean and fresh, all day.

I am so glad that she introduced me to this company because I looked online and I will be able to order it for myself and my family members.

This company has different kinds of soaps in all kinds of fragrances and I have my eye on the Oatmeal soap.

I intend on doing a Youtube review about this Soap and I hope a lot of people try it because it makes a beautiful gift and the presentation is classy.

This Soap is not only good for Christmas gifts but for Birthdays and etc.

THE WONDERS OF WHITE VINEGAR

VINEGAR, A MIRACLE IN A BOTTLE

When we purchase Vinegar, we usually don't think of it as a product that has many uses.  We usually buy it to use on our salads or for barbecue, but what we have in our possession is a miracle product that we can use all around the house.

I like to buy big bottles of Vinegar to clean my counter tops, to shine my glass table and mirrors.  It can be used in your bathroom to clean the toilet, sink and bathtub.  Mixing Vinegar with water is great to clean your white walls.

My Grandmother told me many years ago, to use it to rinse my hair after shampooing and she said that this would get rid of excess soap and make my hair stronger.  You have to add half Vinegar and half water to a cup and make sure to rinse again with clear water.

You can use Vinegar to bathe in; if you are having breakouts from soap and you just add a half cup to your bath water and just soak and bathe and you will smell nice and fresh.

Vinegar can be use to wash your clothes.  Just add a cup of Vinegar at the beginning of the wash cycle and you will have nice, clean clothes.

Cleaning your comb, brush and toothbrush is a breeze if you soak it in five tablespoons of Vinegar and water.

To shine up your stove top, just add some Vinegar to some soapy water and lightly scrub and your stove will shine and look beautiful.

Cleaning tile floor is very easy with using a half cup of Vinegar to water and just mop and your floors will be so clean and the Vinegar will disinfect your floors.

In a pinch, you could use Vinegar as a mouth wash after brushing your teeth.

WARNING!  DO NOT MIX VINEGAR WITH HOUSEHOLD BLEACH.  VINEGAR AND BLEACH WILL RELEASE HARMFUL FUMES AND IT COULD BE DEADLY.

There are so many more uses for Vinegar and you can get it at your local supermarket and you will save so much money.

SHOULD YOU MAKE A NEW YEARS RESOLUTION OR NOT?

We are going into a new year and it is on a lot of peoples mind about making changes in their lives.  The first thing we  think about is making a New Years Resolution.  The problem with this concept is that we use this time to plan how we are going to make changes in our life, but, we don't realize that the changes we want to make, have been right in front of us, but since it has been the norm to pick a certain time of the year to make different plans and choices, we fail to think that we could have made these changes all along.

It takes a while to train our minds to do things differently, but I feel that we can use each day to start practicing things that would help us to accomplish the goals that we set out to.  If you would like to stop smoking and you are smoking a pack a day, then you would take out 4 cigarettes out of a pack and each week subtract another cigarette or you could subtract 4 or 5 a month and over time you would be smoking less and less.

If you would like to save money then start saving a few dollars a week and do not spend it and at the end of the month you will see an increase and  after 6 months you will get in the habit of saving because you will be so excited of what you could accomplish in a small amount of time.  Saving will start to become second nature to you and when it comes time to put that money you saved towards a house or a vacation that you dreamed of, you will learn to appreciate what this practice of saving can do.

If you would like to lose weight then, you would start cutting back on food a few times a week and start exercising at least twice a week and you will start to develop habits that will give you the willpower and the discipline to continue long term.

So, you would like to start a small business but you don't have the money or the time to get things moving; I would suggest that you get books to learn more about this business you would like to start and talk to someone who is already in this business, and start to buy little supplies such as; pens, paper, books, shipping supplies and etc. This way you are not overwhelmed with the expenses.  Start small and build and before you know it, you will be in the business that you dreamed of.

You would like to move to a new area, but, you are not sure how you will do it.  Get on your computer and start researching the area that you are interested in.  If you are just changing your apartment, then go to the apartment that you like, different parts of the day or night to get a feel of the neighborhood.  Talk to people who live in the area or complex to see what they think about it.  If you decide that this is the place that you want, then start buying boxes and making plans and give yourself a time limit on when you want to move and even if this takes you a year to do, you will be able to do this very easily.

What I am saying in this blog is; make changes everyday and you will be more successful than making New Years Resolutions.

Have a Happy New Year!
