Beauty Really Is In The Eye Of The Beholder.

Beauty Really Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

Today was really an eye-opener for me. I had to go to a meeting and it was requested that I not wear makeup to this meeting and this was really hard.

Since I am in my middle-ages I have been wearing makeup for a while and don't get me wrong, I love my makeup because it makes me feel secure, sophisticated and beautiful, but I got to a point where I didn't leave the house without it.

I also wear makeup at home and today I walked around all day without a stitch of makeup on.  At first, I was self-conscious but I strolled past a mirror and I said " not bad, not bad" I had to accept me for who I was.

I have many flaws but it comes a time when you have to accept you and your flaws and just be beautiful, beautiful because you are alive and your face is uniquely yours.

Being a confident woman is beautiful to me, wearing my age is my testimony of who I am and where I have been.  Life was never easy but it is so beautiful to be an inspiration to young women who are at a place where I have been in my life.

No matter how old you are, you can be beautiful because your light, experience, and your grace will shine through.

I will still wear makeup but I am going to go out more and show the natural glow of my bare skin.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder because when you are at your worse someone will still find you beautiful and if they don't you will when you accept yourself.

Am I Too Old To Be A Blogger??

Blog, Letters, Word, Font, Internet

I have been thinking about this question for a while and it has even come up in conversations.  Am I Too Old To Be A Blogger??  Well, I am going to say, Heck No!
Blogging is a hobby for me and it has the potential of becoming a business, would you ask an Author whether they are too old to write, no you wouldn't.

As a blogger, you have the chance to share your life and your experiences with others and we all have the ability to start thought-provoking conversations with each other.  I plan on taking blogging to new heights and build a business that will be here even when I am no longer here.

Never let anyone put you into a box because of your age because that is stifling and also prejudicial. You are in charge of spreading your beautiful message throughout the world to share your knowledge, expertise and the jewels that living a ripe old age has given you.

So spread your wings ( old bird) and fly to new and greater heights.

To Wear Makeup Or Not To Wear Makeup (Commentary)

There has been a great debate regarding makeup since Alicia Keys decided that she will not wear makeup and she is sporting a more natural look.  Alicia Keys is a beautiful woman and she definitely can make that choice because she doesn't have any notable flaws.  I am sure that a lot of women will follow her lead and she is just showing young girls that they can be comfortable in their own skin.

Beauty is definitely in the eyes of the beholder and during my twenties, I didn't wear makeup.  My skin was nice and clear and I saw no reason to be made up.  I was struck by illnesses and still, I did not wear makeup.  Fast forward eight years, my neighbor knocked on my door.  She wanted to borrow some bottled water.  She looked at me kind of strange and she said, " are you feeling okay?"  I told her that I had been very sick and then she went back to her apartment.  Next time I saw her she said, " when you are sick, you should put on a little makeup because if you look in the mirror and you look sick it will kill your spirit"  Honestly, I thought she was throwing shade but I looked at myself in the mirror and I had deep circles around my eyes and I really did look sick.

I watched some Youtube videos so I could learn how to apply makeup and a whole new world opened up to me.  I saw myself in a whole new light and it restored some of the happiness that I had lost due to being ill.  When I am feeling my worst I apply some foundation and do my eyebrows and I feel good about myself.   My point is, everyone, do not have the same story and if your skin is in good shape and you have no blemishes or scars, it is good not to wear makeup but for ladies who are suffering from skin diseases or perhaps have deep scars, makeup can be good for your self-esteem.

I have never been a person who jumps on bandwagons and I do what makes me happy. If my health returns to a healthy state, maybe I will wear little or no makeup but until then, I will enjoy the blessings that makeup has given me.

How To Encourage Yourself.

When you are going through things in life it is hard to break out of a rut or depression.  We wait for other people to lend an ear and to give us words that will give us hope in our situation.  At times we may not be in the place where we can receive advice from someone because they may not understand your situation,  Most times you cannot speak on things that you do not understand.

We used to think that talking to yourself was crazy but at times it is needed.  You can tell yourself that you can make it.  Encouraging yourself to move on can be done.  Reach for the sky when other people makes you think that you are wasting your time.  Don't let anyone put their negative perception into your spirit because it is their hangup and belief that they couldn't achieve some of the things that you did.

Working through things in life sometimes have to be done in silence apart from the world as some people are not going to pat you on your back or give you a much-needed hug.  Stick to the things that you promised yourself and keep talking to yourself and praising yourself for the good work that you already did.  "Talking To Yourself Is Fine If It Makes You Feel Much Better." Great words from Earth Wind And Fire.

HOW TO STAND IN YOUR TRUTH INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIT IN.

I have always been a person who dance to my own beat.  I am a little bit of bohemian but not to the extreme.  It is hard sometimes to find a perfect medium in Social Media because we are living in the age of  "Do what everyone else is doing".   I have a problem with this because it isn't in my nature to go with the flow.  I like expressing myself in my own unique way.

In Social Media, we all do things that are similar but some of us are determined to show the world our uniqueness of what we bring and offer to the world.

There are other people like me, but, I would like to see more.   Sometimes we are cast to the side because we may not be  (What's In) at the moment.  How to stand in your truth and not be a carbon copy of someone else?   My answer to this question is, just be yourself and what is for you will be for you and if it doesn't work, then it may be time to do something else.

God made us all unique and it is time to make it off your own merit and not off the backs of others.

Are you recognized more when you copy? Yes, you are, but, is it worth it in the long run. No!
