When I Lost My Voice. My Story Of Living With A Chronic Illness.

When I Lost My Voice.

Ladies and Gentlemen, from time to time I will touch on my story of living with an invisible illness.  I told my story on Youtube so many of you know about my illness.  It is such a struggle to have to live with pain and suffering day to day.  Today I am honestly in a depressed state because I am tired of the preparation, inability to live a normal life, the judgment from healthy people, and the life that I lived prior to being diagnosed with this illness.  For those who do not know, I have Congestive Hearth Failure, Diabetes, COPD, and Asthma.

Normally, I try to be upbeat about my illness and pretend that I am normal but normal is what I will never be because of what being ill has stolen away from me.  I have lost precious moments, time that I cannot get back.  I have to plan my medications for the day, preparing in advance for outings because I am on water pills and that can be a problem because you may not be close to public bathroom facilities.

Being ill will take a toll on you financially because you always have to think before buying anything and even though I plan everything, sometimes I want to be spontaneous. I am going on a family trip very soon and I am terrified because of all the advance planning that I will have to encounter.  The meals that I will not be able to enjoy like everyone else, the lines of people waiting to go into the ladies room.

I have lost my freedom to live the life that I wanted for myself, the opportunities that I have dreamed of. Being thankful for another day is my prayer and will never give up my faith but being ill is no walk in the park, it is a sentence that can never be acquitted.

Earning prestige on your own merit.

I have touched on this subject before because, there are some people in this world who are looking for hand-outs or looking for the magic carpet to instantly appear out of nowhere.  You can learn a lot by putting in your own hard work.  I remember Wendy Williams was talking to someone in her audience and she mentioned about the days when you lived in your first apartment and had mice or other pests in your the home and you toughened up and made it work out.

Let me go back and tell you about my very first apartment.  It was in a town where I had never lived and an apartment manager had taken me to another apartment first.  This apartment was so dingy, I cried. (really I did!)  I had never been on my own, and I was determined, but the vision that I had in my mind was not this one.  I dreamed of a fully furnished apartment in the nice part of town, and everything was bright and beautiful, and I could just see myself entertaining my friends and enjoying my life.  Sad to say that this was not my reality.  My reality at that time was ragged flooring, walls that desperately needed to be painted, and mice and other pests.  There was definitely drug selling and other things being sold in this neighborhood.

I could not imagine the beauty that could be created. Now I see a lot of ladies on Youtube showing how to make a less-than-perfect apartment beautiful, and it is really inspiring.  We didn't have Youtube at that time but we all had that aunt who could create a palace out of a not-so-beautiful apartment.  This experience was a hard pill to swallow because it wasn't my dream but I have to say that this experienced changed me.  It changed the way I saw things and my perception.  It taught me how to be creative and appreciate the work that I had to put in and also the young lady who thought that she couldn't make it on her own. Made it!

It was hard but it showed me how to make some serious choices.  That is the key, choices because if you do not change the way you think, your outlook will remain very bleak.  I can never forget those days when I had to stretch the orange juice by adding more water to it and the days that I ran out of my favorite floor cleaner and the day when my old car finally stopped running and I knew that I would have to rely on public transportation at that point. I didn't turn into this frugal queen by accident; I had to struggle.  The tools were always there but it was not something that someone could tell me or rescue me, it was life and life humbled this scared young lady.  I now know that I can make it no matter what.  If I can make it, you too!

Real Reasons to Dissolve Some Friendships

Friendships are great.  We meet people in our lives and we share so much but there are times when a great friendship is on its way out.  Some of our friends are people we have known since childhood or different season and stages of our lives.  Talking and sharing our secrets was a mainstay of our relationship. As we grew as women and married, had children or experienced that dreaded Divorce we always knew that we had each other's back.

Friendships that was so sacred that our family didn't even know what we were going through because our dear friends were the keeper of our secrets.  At some point in our life's journey, we go through changes in jobs, kids, family, and locations, and we both notice that our visits and phone calls are getting fewer and fewer.  No one is mad or upset but it is just a sign that we are outgrowing our friendships.

Nothing ever stay's the same and I have come to realize that life's roads sometimes lead you into a new and different direction, and sometimes God has something new for you and new friendships for you to form.

Sometimes, someone has broken your trust and that shatters your relationship and there is no coming back and you must move on, never to return again.

How To Encourage Yourself.

When you are going through things in life it is hard to break out of a rut or depression.  We wait for other people to lend an ear and to give us words that will give us hope in our situation.  At times we may not be in the place where we can receive advice from someone because they may not understand your situation,  Most times you cannot speak on things that you do not understand.

We used to think that talking to yourself was crazy but at times it is needed.  You can tell yourself that you can make it.  Encouraging yourself to move on can be done.  Reach for the sky when other people makes you think that you are wasting your time.  Don't let anyone put their negative perception into your spirit because it is their hangup and belief that they couldn't achieve some of the things that you did.

Working through things in life sometimes have to be done in silence apart from the world as some people are not going to pat you on your back or give you a much-needed hug.  Stick to the things that you promised yourself and keep talking to yourself and praising yourself for the good work that you already did.  "Talking To Yourself Is Fine If It Makes You Feel Much Better." Great words from Earth Wind And Fire.

I Have Been Shaken To The Core!

I Have Been Shaken To The Core

Well, Guys, I had a lot to confront this weekend. There were decisions to be made and they had to be made quickly.  I cannot go into direct details but I have some things that I want to say.  You can go through life and refuse to see the things right before you and you try to cover up the hurt but there will be a time that you will have to face a situation, a (Goliath) in your life.  This situation was something that had been going on for a very long time but I didn't know how to confront this situation because of the uncertainty about how it would turn out.

God, let me know that now was the time and when I attempted to approach this situation, the pieces started to fall into place.  I was still fearful and to be honest, I still am.  That is what real change will do, it will scare the heck out of you.  Still not sure what the outcome will be, but, I am expecting something great to come through this.  When God says move, you better move because you may not get the opportunity again.

Confront your fears early because it will still have to be confronted even if it is many years from now.

How To Live A Peaceful Life

How To Live A Peaceful Life:

  1.  Do not make or stay friends with people who are negative because their spirit will rub off on you.
  2. Surround yourself with people who are of the same peaceful temperament as yourself.
  3. Diffuse arguments quickly in your home and take a time-out.
  4. Live the type of lifestyle in front of your children that you would like for them to become.
  5. Listen to good music that makes you happy and brings back good memories only.
  6. Give to the needy because this brings joy to your spirit.
  7. Bring plants and animals into your life because it brings love into your world.
  8. Pray to God because prayer changes things.
  9. Learn how to save money because debt does not equal living in peace.
  10. Share knowledge with others because knowledge is power.

Is Social Media making you antisocial?

I have been involved in Social Media for some time now and I am noticing that it is so easy to email, text or chat online, that my social interactions with other people are diminishing.  The fact that you do not have to leave your house to have communications with anyone is ideal but is it healthy?  We are becoming a society that is drifting further apart and a lot of us don't really see or understand what is happening.

Honestly, I really have to make myself go out to see people that I love because I have become complacent with my interactions.  All day, most of us are looking at the phone screen, computer screen or on gaming systems. We don't realize that we are being programmed.

I love Social Media but I feel that I need to step away from it to gain my life back and a healthy well-being. We need each other.  Families need to be close and share life without the phone and etc.

Computers and phones are a blessing but do not let it become a curse.
